Starling at Nocatee’s independent living community is in the beginning stages of construction and expected to be complete by spring 2019.

Known as “phase 2,” the community will stand adjacent to the Starling’s 92-unit assisted living and memory care community or “phase 1,” which opened in December 2017. Executive Director Megan Kennedy told the Recorder that the independent living community will consist of 140 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments.

“The independent living community is designed for seniors looking for a maintenance-free lifestyle with unmatched amenities, personalized services and endless opportunities for wellness and engagement,” said Kennedy.

The executive director noted that the community will feature multiple restaurant-style dining venues, including tableside service in a dining room, a private dining room for gatherings and special events, a display kitchen, pizza oven, wine storage and more. Residents of the independent living community will also be able to enjoy a spa and salon, massage room, fitness studio, yoga lawn and water aerobics, among other wellness opportunities.

The Starling will also offer residents of this community opportunities for engagement, such as walking trails, pickleball, shuffleboard, a putting green and resident gardening. Additional services, said Kennedy, include housekeeping, transportation, utilities, maintenance and 24-hour security. Not to mention, all residents will have access to Nocatee’s amenities.

Starling at Nocatee, Kennedy added, is strictly a rental community to ensure residents maintain the freedom and choice they desire.
