The DONNA Marathon Weekend’s 10th anniversary year continues through May with the annual THE PLAYERS DONNA 5K and PINK OUT at THE PLAYERS events.

THE PLAYERS DONNA 5K will be held on THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 6, coinciding with the launch of THE PLAYERS Championship week. The marathon will begin behind the 17th island green, winding throughout the back nine holes of the course and giving participants an exclusive preview of the tournament’s preparations. This year’s run will also see the introduction of commemorative finisher metals in addition to performance tee shirts and complimentary stadium passes to THE PLAYERS Championship for PINK OUT at THE PLAYERS. Online registration is capped at 1,750 participants and can be found at https://register.breastcancermarathon.com/theplayers5K.

On Championship Sunday, May 14, The DONNA Foundation will present PINK OUT at THE PLAYERS, bringing the pink-clad golfers, caddies, volunteers and fans together for a cause. The DONNA Foundation will be honored as “Charity of the Day” for the final day of tournament play, and THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP will make a donation to the foundation for continued support of breast cancer research at Mayo Clinic and financial assistance to those living with breast cancer. Participants are encouraged to dress in pink attire and share photos of themselves on social media using the hashtag #PINKOUT4DONNA for a chance to win prizes for best dressed.

Jared Rice, executive director of THE PLAYERS Championship, said he looked forward to partnering with the foundation yet again.

“As they near closer and closer to a breast cancer cure with their groundbreaking research, it’s humbling to witness – especially as the community rallies in support by wearing their pink to the PINK OUT at THE PLAYERS and participating in THE PLAYERS DONNA 5K,” Rice said. “We hope everyone is able to get out and enjoy these events as the world's best golfers take stage yet again at TPC Sawgrass."

Donna Deegan, founder of DONNA Marathon Weekend and The DONNA Foundation, said the torrent of support for the year-long celebration has been overwhelming and empowering in equal measure.

“This 10th anniversary season has been an amazing whirlwind from the outpouring of love and record number of participants during February’s DONNA Marathon Weekend to this spring’s lineup of the 10th annual 5K, featuring the first-ever finisher medal, and PINK OUT at THE PLAYERS,” she said. “We are so appreciative of our partnership with THE PLAYERS Championship to further increase awareness for the cause to finish breast cancer, giving us a platform to reach a broader audience of advocates.”
