The Garden Club of St. Augustine to hold 50th annual Christmas Tour of Homes Dec. 2

Posted

The Garden Club of St. Augustine is holding its 50th annual Christmas Tour of Homes on Sunday, Dec. 2 from noon to 5 p.m. Ticket sales begin Oct. 1.

This St. Augustine tradition offers ticket holders the opportunity to view the decorated interiors of some of the City’s most beautiful homes while taking in exquisite floral arrangements and displays throughout.

The homes on the tour showcase an array of architectural styles from various periods and are all located in downtown St. Augustine, south of King Street, in the neighborhoods of Lincolnville and Bayfront.

Tickets for the event, called “Christmas in the City of Lights,” are $30 and include a walking tour; a program and map highlighting each of the six homes decorated by members of the Garden Club; and a formal Tea and Boutique located at the River House from noon to 4 p.m.

At the River House, in addition to complimentary, homemade refreshments and the view on the terrace, guests will find a raffle and an array of handmade gifts, decorations and treats available for purchase.

Limited complimentary trolley service is available from the parking garage on West Castillo. The trolley will run from noon to 4:30 p.m. from the garage to the River House and the homes in between.  Service is provided by Old Town Trolley.

Advance ordering for this event is strongly advised as tickets have sold out for eight years running. Interested people may order tickets online at www.gardenclubofstaugustine.org or by phone at (904) 342-2901.  A small number of tickets will be sold at Flowers By Shirley, as well as these locations on Anastasia Island: Carter’s Jewelry, Leonardi’s, Southern Horticulture, Tre’ Sebastian and Whetstone Chocolates. These locations will accept cash or check only.

The Garden Club of St. Augustine, founded in 1926, is a large group of members separated into 10 flower “circles” or small groups. There is a monthly general meeting for all members, as well as individual monthly meetings for each circle.

If you have a green thumb, enjoy arranging flowers or would like to learn, please visit the organization’s website.  Garden Club is not just for ladies; male members are welcome too.
