The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach honors veterans with 15th Annual Navy Appreciation Day

About 90 current and retired military personnel attended and participated in the Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach’s 15th Annual Navy Appreciation Day on Nov. 6.

Founded to honor and express thanks to the area’s veterans, especially local Navy personnel, the activity-packed day featured a breakfast, a golf outing and a steak luncheon for all participants that included an awards presentation. The local color guard performed, and a Navy veteran sang the national anthem prior to the outing, which was played in a scramble format. Activities throughout the day were organized by Plantation residents.

Former Plantation resident and WWII Navy veteran Jim Gaff founded the event following 9/11. He passed away Jan. 15, 2015.
