TPC Sawgrass to fight hunger during National Restaurant Week

In an effort to support the fight against hunger, TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach will participate in National Restaurant Week Oct. 15-21.

The event, which is hosted throughout the TPC Network, dedicates an entire week to raising money for Feeding America — a nationwide group of more than 200 food banks that feed more than 46 million people through food pantries, soup kitchens shelters, and other community-based agencies. During the week, each TPC property in its network will offer an exclusive a-la-carte lunch and dinner menu along with a special gala event.

Chef Azhar Mohammad, the executive chef at TPC Sawgrass, referred to the initiative as a great cause that will make a significant impact on those in need.

"Being part of the community and helping the community — giving back — it's something that has always been close to my heart," Mohammad said. "This gives an opportunity where we can give something back to the community."

Mohammad noted that the goal for this year's event is to raise $50,000.

“We want to have a great success," he said. "We want to have as many as donations as possible for this."

Guests can expect a special menu, he added, that will offer chefs an opportunity to showcase their talent.

"We'll have two appetizers and two entrees for lunch," Mohammad said, "and we'll have two appetizers, two entrees and a dessert for dinner."

The veteran chef also noted that guests can expect unique food options, and some conventional meals will be offered with a twist. For example, instead of chicken pot pie — Mohammad said guests can try chicken in a pot with a pie. Additionally, the week-long event will feature a brisket mac and cheese waffle, black bean hummus and other delicacies.
