The University of North Florida was recently recognized as one of the nation’s “Best Colleges for Nutrition Degree Programs 2018-19” by schools.com. The university’s Nutrition and Dietetics Flagship Program landed in the No. 8 spot out of the 10 best programs in the country.

“Transforming students into competent, ethical and compassionate professionals who value lifelong learning, service to the community and leadership is the passion that drives our program,” said Dr. Judith Rodriguez, Nutrition and Dietetics Department chair. “Our faculty is active in national leadership, collaborative community projects and engaging students using cutting-edge approaches to learning.”

The schools featured on the Top 10 list represent the best colleges/universities for nutrition degrees in the nation. Schools.com compiled data provided by the National Center for Education Statistics and created an individualized methodology to rank each college.

UNF’s Department of Nutrition and Dietetics is unique in offering a Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition program, one of only two such programs in the country.

The department also offers two master’s program options, including an online Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics Non-Internship program and a MS/Dietetic Internship Clinical Practicum program. An undergraduate bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics is also available, along with a professional Individualized Supervised Practice Pathway certificate.

The UNF Nutrition and Dietetics Flagship Program gained national attention last October when former President Bill Clinton visited campus to see the new Center for Nutrition and Food Security. The center serves as a gateway to the university for nonprofit agencies, government programs, professional organizations and industry personnel by exploring solutions to food insecurity and malnutrition. The department also partners with the Food Fighters, Student Powered Hunger Relief club, which meets regularly to collect, package and distribute unused foods to the Northeast Florida AIDS Network.
