St. Johns County residents gathered in the lobby of the Renaissance Hotel at World Golf Village Tuesday, Aug. 21 for an “old-fashioned hobnob” hosted by the St. Johns Federated Republican Women. The event, which included a straw poll, offered voters the opportunity to learn more about some of the Republican candidates running for office in Florida’s 2018 primary and general elections.
Candidates in attendance included: St. Johns County District 4 School Board Representative Kelly Barrera; District 4 County Commission candidates Erika Alba, Jeremiah Blocker, Nicholas “Mike” Dudynskay and Dick Williams; 7th Judicial Circuit Judge, Group 15 candidate Ryan Will; Karen Cornwell, a candidate for Seat 2 of the Anastasia Mosquito Control District; and State Reps. Cyndi Stevenson and Paul Renner.
“You really can’t go wrong with any of the candidates you have in the room tonight,” Renner said. “St. Johns County is the envy of the state, and it can continue to be that way as long as we continue to have leaders that step forward to offer themselves up for public service, and (people like) you that come and make sure that we get people out to vote and win these elections to stay on that path.”
