Affordable Housing Town Hall set for Oct. 22

Habitat for Humanity of St. Augustine/St. Johns County (Habitat St. Johns) will participate in The Peoples’ Town Hall addressing “Housing for the Workforce in St. Johns County: Progress, Challenges and Strategies for Solutions.”

The event will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Center for Spiritual Living, 1795 Old Moultrie Road, St. Augustine.

All are welcome to attend. The moderator will be Rhona DiCamillo, vice president of the League of Women Voters, Jacksonville First Coast. The speakers will include:

  • Malinda Everson, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of St. Johns County
  • Bill Lazar, executive director of St. Johns Housing Partnership
  • Aliyah Meyer, economic development coordinator of the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce
  • Bob Porter, land manager of D.R. Horton
  • Erick Saks, executive director of Operation Lifeline, Inc.

“Advocacy is equally as critical as building homes,” said Everson. “By raising our voices for affordable housing, we help shape policies and resources that allow families to achieve stability and opportunity. Together, we can ensure that hardworking individuals and families in St. Johns County are not priced out of the very community they help to sustain.”
