Apex Theatre Studio to present ‘Our Town’

Apex Theatre Studio will present a performance of Thornton Wilder’s great American stage classic, “Our Town,” on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the Backyard Stage of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre.

Hailed as “probably the finest play ever written by an American,” “Our Town” casts its gaze on the citizens of Grover’s Corners. As the show’s narrator takes the audience through several decades in the life of this community, the everyday moments which compromise the human experience are portrayed with a mixture of laughter, terror and wonder.

The show features a cast of young artists from the St. Johns County area as well as teaching artists on staff at Apex Theatre Studio.

“This play speaks directly to those things which all of us have in common as human beings,” director Ian Mairs said. “We feel it is important at this moment of time to explore such a work, which promotes universal empathy and understanding.”

This production of “Our Town” is supported in part by a State of the Arts grant from the St. Johns Cultural Council.

Apex Theatre Studio is a nonprofit performing arts training center celebrating its fourth year in operation.
