Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside has expanded its inpatient and outpatient imaging services by adding a new state-of-the-art MRI machine. The new 1.5T MRI Scanner features the first-of-its-kind BioMatrix technology, allowing for higher-quality imaging of the entire body that is more consistent and precise while providing patients with a more comfortable experience.

The scanner is already in use for routine imaging services and complex exams for cardiac, vascular, oncology, neurosciences and orthopedic services.

“Residents of Northeast Florida deserve to have the highest quality technology for their health needs,” said Scott Kashman, President and CEO of St. Vincent’s Riverside. “This advanced MRI provides an additional care resource for our patients. Our team is excited to see this benefit for the patients and communities we serve. I am thankful for our dedicated team of physicians, nurses and associates.”

The machine sensors save set-up time that can, in some cases, reduce scan times by about 46%, and can considerably shorten cardiac and liver exams. An in-bore camera system allows technologists to visually monitor the patient’s face. In addition, the machine has distortion software that delivers more consistent and reproducible imaging.

In spring 2024, St. Vincent’s will expand its cardiac MRI program beyond St. Vincent's Southside to include St. Vincent’s Riverside. This advanced cardiovascular imaging service uses enhanced software incorporated into the new MRI machine. To make a referral for an MRI, call 904-308-7428.
