It’s common to check online ratings before making a purchase decision. When it comes to healthcare, consumers can compare hospitals through the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services’ Hospital Compare ratings. Baptist Medical Center Beaches recently received a 5-star rating in the national ranking.

CMS’ Hospital Compare ratings are based on a variety of measures in seven quality areas: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care and efficient use of medical imaging.

CMS assigns star ratings to more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide. The most common overall hospital ratings are three or four stars. All four Baptist Health adult hospitals received four- and five-star ratings. Only 6.5% of the hospitals in Florida received five-star ratings.

“Quality and safety are the most important factors when it comes to health care,” said Joe Mitrick, hospital president of Baptist Medical Center Beaches. “Baptist Beaches’ five-star rating is a reflection of our relentless dedication to safe, quality patient care.”
