Beachside, Nease, Creekside win

Friday, Sept. 12, was a big night for high school football.

The Beachside Barracudas defeated the Ponte Vedra Sharks 33-20 in their divisional matchup.

Junior Jason Antolin had an early interception for Beachside, which set the tone for the rest of the game. Senior wide receiver Maddox Hunstad picked up the first touchdown of the game, putting the Barracudas on the scoreboard first. The Sharks answered back immediately with a touchdown of their own, making the score 7-6 going into the second quarter.

Beachside’s offense was humming early in the second quarter. Drew Aldrich, Vincent Galella and Brennan Monaco all picked up first downs on a drive that ended in a Hunstad touchdown.

The Sharks marched right back down the field and answered with a touchdown of their own courtesy of Caleb Stanton. The Barracudas went right back to work, making the score 20-13 going into halftime thanks to another touchdown by Hunstad.

The Barracudas had the ball to start the third quarter. However, after an interception catch by Fionn Day the Sharks evened the score with another touchdown. Beachside’s Drew Watson answered right back with a touchdown of his own making the score 27-20. Watson went 5/5 on the night and had a total of 150 yards. Beachside’s defense largely controlled the fourth quarter, and the Barracudas went on to score one more touchdown before the clock went to zeros.

Nease vs. Fletcher

The Nease Panthers remain undefeated as they took down the Fletcher Senators 22-6. Enrique Ordonez rushed for 192 yards and picked up one touchdown. Ordonez is now averaging 111.5 rushing yards per game. Brayden Felder picked up 88 receiving yards. The Panthers defense had two interceptions on the Senators thanks to Jayden Haynes and Kash Kolbow.

Fletcher is now 3-1 and will face off against Sandalwood at home on Friday, Sept. 19. Nease will also be at home to take on the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets on Friday, Sept. 19.

Creekside vs. Bartram Trail

The Creekside Knights got their first win of the season over the Bartram Trail Bears with a final score of 28-14. The Knights offense stepped up to the plate as this was the most points they have scored all season. Arthur Lewis was a bright spot for the Bears as he rushed for 110 yards and had one touchdown.

The Bears are now 0-4 and will play Orange Park at home on Friday, Sept. 19. The Knights will be on the road to take on Winter Park on Sept. 19.
