On March 29, sixth-grade students from Beaches Episcopal School (BES) loaded more than 800 pounds of donated items from BES families to give to the Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry as part of the school’s spring food drive.

“We consider it a privilege to be able to partner with such a wonderful organization who helps those less fortunate in our community,” said Dallas Skornia, director of communications for BES, in an email to the Recorder. “Thank you, BES students, parents, and faculty for your generosity!”

BEAM is a 501(c)(3) community-based organization serving low income residents living in Jacksonville’s beach communities. The nonprofit operates two food pantries and offers nutrition education, assistance with applications for SNAP benefits and Medicaid, and case management for single mothers working to break the cycle of poverty, among other services.
