Teen influencers in the I'm A Star Foundation will host “Young, Gifted & Black,” a broadcast highlighting young changemakers.
The special will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27. It will be streamed to YouTube Live at Youtube.com/ImAStarFoundation.
In honor of Black History Month, I’m A Star students ages 12 to 18 produced the program to celebrate the achievements of African-Americans across generations, locally and nationally.
One featured guest is Christa Kennebrew, a local third grader who started Reading Divas Book Club at seven years old. The group, which brings mothers and daughters together for discussion and sweet treats, is praised for strengthening bonds and creating a village to navigate tween life.
Teen servant leaders will also highlight the journey of special guest Dr. Laurence Morse, a Jacksonville native and former student at then-segregated Matthew Gilbert High School, who is now chairman of Howard University Board of Trustees.
Additional special guests will be announced as the event nears.
