Brett Dennen with special guest Erin Rae to perform at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall Nov. 2

Singer-songwriter Brett Dennen is performing at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall on Friday, Nov. 2 with special guest Erin Rae. Doors for the show open at 7 p.m., and the concert starts at 8 p.m.

According to the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, Dennen has incorporated his love of music, the outdoors and wine into his live tours. Not only has he embarked on a venture developing wine, Dennen annually hosts a mountain town ski Lift Series in the winter that combines music, travel and environmental activism. In the summer, his beach Vacationer Series supports local environmental preservation. Dennen’s music career began around the camps of the Sierra Nevada mountain range — a retreat to which he would eventually return for inspiration on “Smoke and Mirrors.”

Also according to the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, Dennen’s 2006 release, “So Much More,” launched him as a discovery artist and drew frequent comparisons to troubadours like Paul Simon and Tom Petty. In 2008, his “Hope for the Hopeless” didn’t stray too far from the songwriter’s comfort zone, though a partnership with producer John Alagia (Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer) led to a high level of production not yet heard on any of his albums. In 2011, Dennen’s “Loverboy” was his biggest departure to date: a danceable collection of songs influenced by the road and recorded by a studio filled with friends and imperfect takes.

Erin Rae, whose genre-fusing mix of traditional folk and indie-rock has landed her collaborations with artists like Margo Price and Andrew Combs — not to mention critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, NPR and the BBC — is finally stepping out into the spotlight with her new album, “Putting On Airs.” The album is out now on Single Lock Records.

Tickets for the show cost $24 in advance and $28 the day of the concert.
