Dates set by county for Outpost hearings, open house to be held June 24 to discuss application

Ponte Vedra Corporation’s application to develop a 66-home subdivision (Vista Tranquila) on the Outpost property is currently scheduled to go before the St. Johns County Planning & Zoning Agency on Thursday, Aug. 15, and the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, Sept. 17. An open house will be held Monday, June 24, at 6 p.m. at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library to discuss the proposed application. The public is welcome to attend for further information. South Ponte Vedra, Vilano Beach restoration projects kickoff meeting to be held May 22

St. Johns County is hosting a community meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at the GTM Research Reserve Visitor Center, 505 Guana River Road, to discuss the upcoming South Ponte Vedra and Vilano Beach restoration projects. Representatives from St. Johns County and the Army Corps of Engineers will be available to provide details of the projects, answer questions from the community and document resident feedback. UF/IFAS Extension St. Johns County Master Gardener Program

UF/IFAS Extension St. Johns County is accepting applicants for the 2019 Master Gardener Program. The program provides participants with 50 hours of horticulture training and requires participants to donate 75 hours of volunteer service within their first year. The fee for the class is $150, which covers books and training materials. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 31. Classes will be offered on Wednesdays, from Aug. 7 to Oct. 16. Interested St. Johns County residents should e-mail Terra Freeman at terraf@ufl.edu for an application.
