Zoning Commission to consider hearing for Vista Tranquila

On Aug. 15, the St. Johns County Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to consider the transmittal hearing for Vista Tranquila, the development proposed by the Ponte Vedra Corporation at the Outpost. This is a request for a Comprehensive Plan Amendment to amend the county’s Future Land Use Map from Conservation to both Residential-A and Conservation. The PVC has submitted a companion PUD application that will be heard concurrently at adoption hearings for this amendment. After the meeting, the Planning and Zoning Agency will make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on Comprehensive Plan Amendment requests.

 

Newcomers Alumnae group seeks new members

Newcomers Alumnae group was formed in March 1998 to give graduates of newcomer groups an opportunity to continue growing in the community and to foster friendships through social activities.  With more than 200 members, Newcomers Alumnae welcomes new members who live in Ponte Vedra Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach, Nocatee, Jacksonville and St. Augustine. The group meets for lunch on first Wednesdays from September to June and meetings usually feature a speaker or special program at each luncheon. The next luncheon meeting is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach. For more information, email brookemeister@msn.com.

The Northeast Florida Regional Council launched the survey to engage the public on issues related to resilience planning. Resilience is the ability to prepare and plan for, absorb, recover from and more successfully adapt to adversity. This brief survey focuses on the context of hurricanes, storms and flooding.
