App keeps music lovers up to date on who’s playing where

VisitStAugustine.com has debuted its new Live Music Calendar App — making it a cinch to find where your favorite musicians are playing around St. Augustine while discovering new ones.

The app, which is available as a free download on App Store and Google Play, features 700 local artists, each with their own videos, bios, cover shots and upcoming shows, as well as 50 select venues throughout St. Augustine, including Tradewinds Lounge, Mill Top Tavern, Colonial Oak Music Park, Dog Rose Brewing, Sarbez! and The Beacon.

The app lists upcoming shows in chronological order with an easy-to-navigate calendar icon if you’re planning for a future date. Also, the list automatically updates to remove performances after the artist is finished with their set.

Information is featured at no charge to the artists. They just go to VisitStAugustine.com’s website and fill out the “Submit Your Music Event” form.

MOCA Jacksonville announces ‘John Cage & Friends’ exhibit

MOCA Jacksonville has announced its current exhibition, “Don’t Blame it on ZEN: The Way of John Cage & Friends.” This interactive and multidisciplinary exhibition explores the enduring legacy of John Cage through works by Cage himself, as well as artists who worked with him, and his contemporary relevance through the works by younger artists who in different ways have been inspired by Cage’s unique methodology.

In addition to Cage, the interactive exhibition will feature works by Maria Chavez, Philip Corner, Andrew Deutsch, Ann Hamilton, Christian Marclay, Aki Onda, Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, Matana Roberts, Robert Rauschenberg and others.

The exhibition is on view at MOCA Jacksonville now through May 7. It traces the work and legacy of the 20th-century composer and artist and explores his unique approach to art making that continues to live on in the work of artists today. A rich schedule of programming will accompany the exhibit.
