The Ponte Vedra Sharks are figuring things out at the right time of year and improved to a record of 4-4 following a 30-6 victory over the visiting Orange Park Raiders.

Twenty-four of the Sharks 30 points in the game came in the first half, as they opened up a 24-0 lead at halftime.

The Sharks had a balanced attack and found success on the ground and through the air.

Sophomore Brian Case had a huge day for the Sharks with three touchdowns on the ground, the first of those opened the game’s scoring on Ponte Vedra’s first drive after senior Trooper Price intercepted a pass and setup the offense up with a short field.

As usual, Price found himself around the ball often from his linebacker position and he also recovered a fumble inside the Raider 10-yard line that resulted in a Mark Ramano field goal that increased their lead 10-0 after the Raiders’ defense stood strong and held the Sharks out of the end zone on three consecutive running plays.

Case showcased a physical style of running a showed great vision to find the holes that were made for him by the Sharks’ offensive line.

One of the bright spots for the Raiders was the play of senior defensive back Dacarris Jacobs, who had a pair of interceptions in the contest and hovered around a possible third on several other occasions.

However, despite the interceptions Sharks’ quarterback Ben Burk also made some nice throws, including a 15-yard touchdown strike to senior Wyatt Rogers that extended their lead 24-0 with 1:11 left in the second quarter.

The Raiders offense found some life and drove down the field with a shot at the end zone, but the pass was broken up and the Sharks carried a shutout into the halftime break.

Not much changed for both teams throughout the second half, until the Sharks ran six-plus minutes off the clock late in the fourth quarter to officially put the game on ice with Case’s third score of the night from a yard out.

Although the Raiders’ senior running back Jojo Restall found some room the run at times, the Sharks were able to limit his production and make things difficult for junior quarterback Carnell Bowen, as they routinely swarmed to the ball.

The Sharks will now turn their attention to a rivalry showdown on the road against Nease Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
