A surprise celebration for retiring PVHS girls volleyball Coach Robin Mignerey was held recently at Pusser’s Bar & Grille. Current and former players (including her two daughters), coaches and their families attended.

Mignerey’s 13-year tenure included 11 straight District Championships and six trips to the Final 4 after Regional Championships. Those appearances resulted in two runners-up in State Championships and three State Championship wins.

After capturing their first state title in 2017, Mignerey led the Sharks to become the first program in Northeast Florida to achieve back-to-back State Championships in 2019 and 2020. The Sharks were undefeated in 2020 (27-0) with a streak that ultimately stretched to 51 games and were ranked No. 1 nationally in several polls for multiple weeks during the 2021 season. The Sharks have not had a loss at home in five years.

During her career at PVHS, Mignerey was named coach of the year multiple times by multiple sources, including the Times-Union’s area coach of the year across all sports for the 2020-21 year. Additionally, she served as coach for the newly added girls beach volleyball program at PVHS finishing fifth in the state in their debut 2021 season and capturing the district title in 2022 with their official entry as an FHSAA sport.
