Council on Aging invites the community to participate in its 18th annual Champions for Elders Golf Tournament on Monday, Aug. 16, at Slammer and Squire, World Golf Village.

The local nonprofit organization has been serving seniors and caregivers in St. Johns County for the past 48 years, and the golf tournament is its largest fundraiser of the year. Sponsors are invited to bring a team of four to enjoy a day of golf followed by a celebratory luncheon or participate as a sponsor off the course and support the important work COA does every day for elders and caregivers.

COA provides an extensive array of services for area seniors including Meals on Wheels, independent-living services, case management, memory care, adult day care, paratransit transportation, prescription assistance and more. The organization also offers opportunities for socialization and lifelong learning at their six senior centers located throughout the county. In addition, COA offers programs to support the needs of local caregivers, providing counseling, education, support groups and respite care. As a nonprofit organization, COA relies upon donations to support its work.

“We are fortunate in St. Johns County to live in a community that is committed to being there for our elders and caregivers,” said COA Executive Director Becky Yanni.  “We rely upon the generosity and good will of members of the community to make this possible. Our annual Champions for Elders golf tournament is crucial to our ability to serve.”

Participating team sponsorships are available with a $2,500 donation. Event sponsorships are available starting at a donation of $250 and include signage and publicity during the event.
