COA Center at Flagler Health+ Village at Nocatee announced July programs

The following programs will be held at the COA Center at Flagler Health+ Village at Nocatee, 351 Town Plaza Ave., Suite 205, Ponte Vedra. Registration is required and space is limited. Let’s Talk About Grief: A place for anyone who has experienced grief of any kind to come and learn about grief and receive empathy and encouragement from others.  This group meets the first and second Tuesday of each month. There will be a group facilitator present at each meeting. Meetings are 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. July 12.

Caregiver Support Group: All caregivers are welcome. Meets 1-2 p.m. every Tuesday except holidays. There is a trained facilitator present at every meeting to guide the group.

Widows and Widowers: Social group meeting from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Meetings are July 12 and July 26.

Caregiver Café – Arts & Crafts: Bring your art or craft project and work on it while making new friends. This is a chance for family caregivers to bring their loved one with them. Register in advance and an easier craft or activity will be provided for anyone not able to do more difficult activities. This group meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, July 6 and 20.

Tai Chi: Improve mood, increase energy and stamina, improve flexibility, balance and muscle strength with instructor Dennis Sheils. Class may be done standing or seated. Parkinson’s Meet, Greet & Learn: A special meeting for people living with Parkinson’s disease or with a loved one who is. A representative from JAX Hope will be present to discuss local support and resources along with a group discussion. Alaine Keebaugh Ph.D will talk about the basics and advances in treatments for Parkinson’s disease and DBS. A Q&A will take place after the presentation. Wednesday, July 6 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Intergenerational Tie Dye Party: Here is your chance to try your hands at tie-dyeing your wearable work of art. Grandparents may bring a grandchild. Family caregivers may bring your loved one. Space is limited to 20 people, so sign up early. July 27 from 10 a.m. to noon.
