To support the community during National Nurse's Week while in the COVID-19 pandemic, local community leaders delivered brownies to local nurses and first responders. Aaishwariya Gulani, current medical student and reigning Miss India USA collaborated with Donna Guzzo, UN Ambassador for #TeachSDGs, and President of the Cultural Center of Ponte Vedra Beach and Gulani Vision Institute to give a special thank you to all those nurses working day and night to combat the #CovidCurse we are all facing. Mocha Misk'i Brownie shop located at 6653 Powers Ave. in Jacksonville partnered in the initiative. “The United Nations has 17 goals to be met by year 2030. Goal No. 3 is Health and Well Being,” Guzzo said. “It is important to stay focused on health issues, information, assessments, needs, and learn what we can do to help those in this field to succeed with proper equipment, tools and resources. The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach partnered in this endeavor to salute all first responders!” As a medical student, Aaishwariya has had the opportunity to work with nurses on numerous occasions and realized that they are the backbone of healthcare. "Though as doctors we are instinctively showered with accolades, I want to take this opportunity to honor the nurses who have made this #CovidCurse a surmountable catastrophe,” she said. “With my dual titles of Miss India USA and medical student, I wish to highlight this endeavor blending the core values of both these platforms. First, for the beauty of the heart, and second, for the dedication to medicine." The group delivered brownies to Flagler+, Mayo Clinic and Baptist South Doctor's Offices. |
