A woman was killed in a fatal crash Monday, Feb 17 at around 7 p.m. after a collision at Florida A1A and L’Atrium, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The woman, identified as Sarita May, 82, was a passenger in a Toyota Prius when a Lexus collided into the vehicle, which was making a left turn from A1A. The Lexus was reported to have been “traveling through the intersection,” causing it to strike the Prius on the side where the deceased was located. The Lexus overturned and the Prius spun, striking a pole. Both drivers were sent to Memorial Hospital, with the driver of the Prius, 74-year-old David Sparrow, in critical condition. A third car was also struck by debris although the driver was reported not to be injured.
Florida Highway patrol is still investigating whether the driver of the Lexus was under the influence of alcohol.
