First Florida Credit Union (FFCU) is expanding its outreach in the community in an effort to not only support local institutions, but also educate young adults.

FFCU has become the official department-wide sponsor of all eight varsity sports at Florida State College of Jacksonville. Beyond just support on the field, FFCU is taking its involvement a step further by offering financial literacy workshops specifically for student-athletes.

“I don't think there’s a more important time to emphasize financial health and education than when young adults are pursuing their education and entering the workforce,” said Brent Lister, president and CEO of First Florida Credit Union. “Student loan debt remains a significant issue in this country, so we aim to provide education.”

This partnership not only strengthens FSCJ’s athletic program, but also equips student-athletes with vital financial tools for life after sports.

“Understanding how to put yourself in a strong financial position, maintain good financial health and navigate major investments like mortgages are things you learn over time,” said John Avendano, president and CEO of FSCJ. “The earlier you can start, the better it is for both the individual and their future.”

First Florida Credit Union is dedicated to enhancing financial education throughout the local community, especially for young adults navigating today's financial challenges.
