Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach to open new exhibits

Posted

The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach is opening two new exhibits on Aug. 25.

The first exhibition features the art of Jim Benedict and David Nackashi in the center’s main gallery. Benedict’s body of work focuses on the collision of physical action and conceptual ideation while David Nackashi's paintings are designed to give the viewer a "sense of place."

The second exhibition entitled "Who Are You" is presented by the Society of Mixed Media Artists (SoMMA) in the scene gallery. It will showcase pieces by various award-winning members of SoMMA that challenged the artists to create works of art (both two and three dimensional) representing their personality, likes, dislikes and hobbies.

Both exhibits will be introduced Aug. 25 with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. that is free and open to the public. The event will feature live music, wine, appetizers and a chance to meet the cultural center's featured artists. Attendees will also be able to purchase original work from local artists. Local artist Jami Childers will judge the entries in the “Who Are You” exhibit.

The exhibits are scheduled to run through Sept. 29 at the cultural center, which is located at 50 Executive Way.
