From live dance performances to interactive painting, fashion to photography and pretty much everything in between, the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach exposed the community to an abundant “tasting of the arts” at its Art Tapas event last Friday, March 1.

With proceeds benefiting the Center’s arts education program and underserved children in the nonprofit’s spring break arts camp, the event gathered art, artists and patrons to connect in an environment of learning, experiencing and appreciating all that the arts, and popular culture, have to offer to the community.

“We are experiencing here tonight what the Cultural Center is all about,” said Donna Guzzo, executive director of the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach. “The inspiration is to show the community that we have been here for 25 years.”

Among several other activities and attractions, the event featured culinary and crafts stations, performances from two dance companies, silhouette artists and local photographer Daniel Bagan, who sponsored the event and took professional portraits of guests. Bagan is known for his re-enacted portrait of Gloria Steinem and Dorothy Pitman Hughes. Attendees of the event also had the chance to participate in silent and live auctions. VIP guests enjoyed a jazz lounge sponsored by Perdue Office Interiors and Shaw Contract.

During the event, the Cultural Center additionally recognized co-founders Janet Wilson and Sandy Beers, as well as Barbara MooreWedow, who was named volunteer of the year. The nonprofit also honored Ellen Diamond for her 21 years of teaching at the Cultural Center.
