The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens will present the River Blossom Jamboree, a bluegrass garden concert on the riverfront of the St. Johns, this weekend.

The concert, to be held 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, will feature performances by Jake Eddy & Band, Larry & Joe and Low Ground. Bring your family, your friends and your overalls to celebrate the end of summer with boots, brews and banjos. Music begins at 5:30 p.m., rain or shine.

Make an Americana day of it at the museum and enjoy free admission at Citi Free First Saturday until 4 p.m. and check out “Fabric of a Nation: American Quilt Stories.” When the galleries close, grab your lawn chairs for a beautiful evening of bluegrass on the river. Drinks and light bites from the Cummer Café will be available for purchase for guests.

“Fabric of a Nation: American Quilt Stories,” features 44 remarkable textiles and other works of art created by a variety of makers and dating from the 17th century to the present day, revealing a rich story of the nation’s collective history.  The makers of these remarkable textiles showcase the diversity of America representing male, female, known and unidentified artists, urban and rural makers, immigrants and Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian and LGBTQ+ communities.

The exhibition also explores how the quilt, which is often thought of as a timeless, quintessentially “American” art form, like bluegrass music, continuously evolves to meet the moment of our time.

Admission is $40 for members, $55 for nonmembers.

This event was made possible by the Mildred Shafer Brown Memorial Fund.

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is located at 829 Riverside Ave., Jacksonville.

Parking is available in lots across from the museum and between the museum and Garden Club.
