Cutter & Cutter Fine Art Galleries will host award-winning Chinese artist Tang Wei Min at their location in Ponte Vedra Beach (Sawgrass Village) Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25-26, for a personal appearance and opening of an exhibition that displays his work.

Wei Min is known for his classically rendered paintings of traditional heritages, with his work including portraits and narrative scenes. According to Cutter & Cutter, Wei Min’s work has been compared to many of the old masters, including Rembrandt and Vermeer. The local business said the artist fell in love with Western oil painting tradition because of Rembrandt, admiring his ability to light his subjects and portray their inner thoughts.

Cutter & Cutter said Wei Min has combined these Western art traditions with an Eastern philosophy and the ability to create dramatic tension in the contrast between light and dark.

“His paintings contain the power of silence, strength, purity and simplicity … yet he creates portraits full of drama,” Cutter & Cutter stated on its website.

The exhibition will be displayed at Cutter & Cutter through February. For more information and to RSVP, call (904) 395-3759 or visit https://www.cutterandcutter.com/.
