CycleBar St. Johns Premium Indoor Cycling is celebrating its grand opening the weekend of Jan. 5 with a prime focus on fostering community and giving back. Its opening weekend is full of events to aid in building the St. Johns’ community, including a grand opening gala and fashion show for its members, highlighting St. Johns’ area restaurants and boutiques. There will also be local beauty and health vendors at the studio throughout the weekend, as well as a free nutrition seminar on Sunday, Jan. 7, at 11:45 a.m.

CycleBar St. Johns owner Susanne Krivanek spoke about the importance of community in all aspects of the customer experience.

“We are so much more than a fitness studio,” she said. “We are building an inclusive, engaging community within St. Johns. In addition to motivational cycling classes, many value-added services and events are planned, such as health information sessions, local business spotlights and opportunities for members to network with one another.”

The most exciting event will close out its opening weekend, a CycleGives Ride. The CycleGives program enables CycleBar to partner with local nonprofits important to the community, helping them raise donations through engaging and fun indoor cycling rides and post-ride community-building. This unique fundraising format promotes health and wellness, as well as connectivity among those participating in the event.

For their first CycleGives event, CycleBar St. Johns has chosen to partner with the Ability Tree First Coast. The organization’s mission is to come alongside families impacted by disability, partnering with individuals and organizations to raise awareness and build support networks to strengthen and grow able families. They have many things planned to meet the needs of the special needs children and adults across our region.

“2024 will be a year of ‘next steps’ for Ability Tree First Coast,” said Joanne Alicia, CEO of Ability Tree First Coast. “There are over 117,000 individuals with a disability here in Northeast Florida. There's a great need for a place where special-needs families can come together and be accepted, supported and empowered without unrealistic expectations or judgment. Our goal is to raise funds for a family clubhouse for these individuals and their families, where they will be able to participate in programs and socials more often and experience the ongoing REST that they need.” (REST is an acronym for: Recreation, Education, Support, Training.)

The ride to support Ability Tree First Coast will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7. Those interested in participating can register on the CycleBar St. Johns website. Go to members.cyclebar.com/auth/login.
