Day 4 of Jaguars training camp shows promise for upcoming season

Last Sunday marked the end of the first week of training camp for the Jacksonville Jaguars, where the teamed put a pep in their step for the spectators and showed some promise for the upcoming 2019 season.

Fans gathered along the sidelines of the practice field and watched as the team warmed up, ran drills and practiced their gameplay.

Roar cheerleaders made an appearance to take some photos, defensive end Calais Campbell signaled some good vibes to the crowd while rehydrating from a summer practice and running back Leanard Fournette took a few seconds to stop by the sidelines and say hi to the young generation of Jags fans cheering along the grass.

Quarterback Nick Foles completed multiple passes to wide receiver Dede Westbrook, who has been having an impressive start to the season, catching almost every pass in Sunday’s practice.

"I have to watch more to be honest,” Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey said about the third-year receiver. “But yeah, I would say Dede is a really good receiver and he’s coming along. Of course, he’s going to continue improving year after year.”

Although this is only week one of camp, things are also looking bright for Foles, who according to Ramsey, is making some good plays, throws and helping the team become better as a whole.

"I’ve been impressed with Nick,” he said.

Fans are also looking optimistic with the newly signed quarterback. Jacksonville local and long-time fan Chris Griffin hopes for a season just as exciting — or even better — than 2017, when the Jaguars made it to the AFC Championship.

“If Foles can keep the offense consistent and the defense play like it has been, I think they have a good shot at getting rolling like they did in 2017,” Griffin said. “I think they’ll surprise a lot of people.”
