Jacksonville’s Downtown Development Review Board unanimously approved conceptual design plans recently for Jones on Hogan, Corner Lot’s new historic preservation development.

Citing the project as being a nice compliment to existing structures, board members also noted that it was a great opportunity for the city and expressed support for it moving forward. Located at 502 N. Hogan, the historic seven-story Jones Brothers Furniture Co. building was constructed in 1929 and serves as the development’s inspiration.

“Preserving the Jones Brothers building has been a goal of ours for several years, and we are grateful to the DDRB board and staff for supporting our vision.” said Andy Allen, Corner Lot CEO. “With the help of the additional density, which is much needed in downtown Jacksonville, we will breathe new life into a building that’s been a cornerstone of Jacksonville’s skyline and history for almost 100 years.”

Utilizing a combination of new construction and preservation of the existing structures, the proposed project will transform the entire block into an urban mixed-use development consisting of residential and retail tenants. Current plans include 103 apartments, two retail store fronts, and a parking garage. In addition, the development will feature co-work office spaces, a fitness facility, tranquility rooms, and a terrace overlooking downtown Jacksonville.

Jones on Hogan residents will have convenient access to downtown Jacksonville, the JTA Skyway, restaurants and entertainment opportunities. In addition, the building is located on Jacksonville’s Emerald Trail, which connects the urban core to 14 historic neighborhoods, parks and greenspaces.
