This year the annual Dreams Come True 5k and 1-Mile Fun Run will be virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Participants in a virtual run simply choose their own means of running or walking whether on a treadmill or a street in their neighborhood.
Dreams Come True is Northeast Florida’s only locally based dream-granting organization dedicated to bringing hope and joy to every First Coast child battling a life-threatening illness.
The event takes on new importance after COVID-19 forced several spring fundraisers for Dreams Come True to be cancelled and more than 60 dreams postponed.
The virtual race can be completed anytime between Sept. 26 and Oct. 18. But one of the sponsors, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty, has designated Oct. 10 as its race day and has invited residents to join its team or make a donation by going to FloridaNetworkDreamers.com.
Since 2013, Berkshire Hathaway has donated more than $325,000 to Dreams Come True.
