EMMA Concert Association will present Dance Alive National Ballet in a production of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14 at Flagler College’s Lewis Auditorium.

The ballet is based on the Shakespeare play with selections from Felix Mendelssohn’s Incidental Music. Bright, beautiful and enduring, Dance Alive National Ballet is based in Gainesville and features an international roster of superb dancers and electrifying choreography.

“The second-to-last performance of our 2019-2020 season, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ is an amazing, must-see, two-part ballet focusing on the power of love,” said Joanne Everett, president of EMMA Concert Association. “And the choreography is by the extraordinary George Balanchine, one of the most influential choreographers of the 20th century.”

DANB’s repertoire ranges from the quintessential classic “Nutcracker” to the cutting-edge movement of contemporary ballet. With an extraordinary group of dancers from all over the world, and dynamic leader and Artistic Director Kim Tuttle, Dance Alive National Ballet has developed into one of the most distinguished and creative ballet companies in the Southeast. The group continues to develop innovative arts education programming and is involved in artist residencies, developing dance curriculum and outreach performances for public schools.

Founded in 1966 by Mary Ellen Pofahl, and continued through the talents and efforts of daughters Judy Skinner and Tuttle, DANB has become the premier touring company in the Southeastern United States.
