The only musical ensemble that can genuinely trace its heritage back to the American military band is the big band, made popular by its mainstream appeal during WWII. A unique and historic component to the heritage of the U.S. Air Force Academy, the Falconaires have brought the sounds of big band to international audiences for more than 50 years.

The professional Airmen-musicians in the Falconaires follow a long blue line of talented Air Force Academy bandsmen, dedicated to serving our nation.

They represent the young men and women at the U.S. Air Force Academy training to be officers of character who will lead the Air Force and Space Force. It is also their distinct privilege to support our veterans and all men and women currently serving around the globe.

These selfless Americans allow us to share the music and remarkable talents of the Falconaires. The versatility and professionalism of this unique ensemble reflect the great diversity and ingenuity that makes the U.S. Air Force the greatest air force the world has ever known.

The Air Force Academy Band’s Falconaires play a major role in cultivating our national heritage through America’s foremost indigenous musical genre: jazz!
