Farmers market teaches Bolles PVB students lessons in environmentalism, buying local

There was plenty of shine before the afternoon showers March 1 at the annual Bolles Parent Association Ponte Vedra Beach Campus Farmers Market. Students, parents and friends enjoyed perusing local goods, crafts, plants, products and information from more than a dozen local vendors, nonprofit organizations and artisans.

Held on the lawn by the school’s flag pavilion, the market helped students experience and support farm-to-table, local and organic food concepts in an effort to inspire more environmentally conscious consumerism. Students also enjoyed cuddling baby goats, lambs, ducks and chicks and brushing a miniature horse. The chicks were recently hatched in the Ponte Vedra Beach Campus science lab as part of a schoolwide study of embryology.
