First Coast Cultural Center registering for summer art camps, classes

First Coast Cultural Center is launching its summer activities season with new programs to support the nonprofit, including summer 2023 Imagination Vacation weekly art camps.

The schedule runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 30 to Aug. 9 for children ages 5 to 11. Multiple camp opportunities and locations are available at 3972 Third St. South in Jacksonville Beach, and PV/PV Rawlings Elementary School, 610 A1A North, Ponte Vedra Beach.

Summer camp includes arts and crafts with watercolors, drawing, collage and novelty crafts featuring slime or clay, with completed art projects to bring home. Also, music, yoga, story time, drama and culinary activities with specialized instructors will be offered.

Weekly themes include Fairytale Land, Camp Dinosaur, Enchanted Forest, Making Magic, Merry Monsters, Under the Sea, Adventures in Time Travel, Candy Land, If I Were a Superhero, Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Culinary Camp for specific age groups.

The Alhambra Theatre Camp will be held for aspiring actors and those who want to experience the theater, for children ages 8 through 17. The camp will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 12-23, at Alhambra Theatre, 12000 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville. A final performance of the selected production, “Princess Whatsername,” will be held June 26. One complimentary ticket and one child's meal are included with registration.

First Coast Cultural Center is also offering adult art classes starting this month, including a one-day “Nature Journaling” class instructed by Elaine Bergstrom, and a six-week Van Gogh-inspired watercolor series with Charlotte Chastain.
