The St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce has announced that Carlton DeVooght, president and CEO of Flagler Health+, and David Nelson M.D., president of UF Health, will be guest speakers at the June 16 Economic Development Quarterly Breakfast. This will be their first public discussion since announcing they have agreed to move forward with the merger of Flagler Health+ becoming a part of UF Health.

The meeting is for Chamber members only.

The merger came from a decision by Flagler Health+ to explore joining a like-minded health system to enhance local health care services and expand access to care in the community. The Flagler Health+ Board of Trustees and leadership team selected UF Health because the nationally renowned health system offers the strengths of a top five public research institution coupled with innovative, high-quality, leading-edge care that will benefit the residents of Flagler, St. Johns, Putnam, Clay and Duval counties.

“Everything we do is driven by our longstanding commitment to our community and our dedication to our team members, providers, and patients,” said DeVooght. “We are excited about this potential opportunity and our next steps with UF Health.”
“UF Health has a long track record of bridging scientific discovery with clinical advances that improve the lives of countless patients and of training the next generation of health care providers,” said Nelson. “We are excited about our shared vision with Flagler Health+ to take health care to the next level and look forward to our ongoing discussions as we collectively focus efforts on delivering outstanding care for area residents.”

“We are thrilled both Carlton and David agreed to make their first public statement together with the Chamber, allowing members to get a chance to meet with them and understand what this merger will mean to them and the future of St. Johns County,” said Isabelle Renault, president and CEO of the Chamber. “Flagler Health+ has been one of our innovative and elite members, and we look forward to working with UF Health to grow our partnership.”
