The Florida Chamber Music Project will present the final concert of its ninth season at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at the Beaches Museum Chapel in Jacksonville Beach. The concert is in memory of Earl Barker, a co-founder and former president of the Florida Chamber Music Project.

The musicians will perform Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in E-Flat Major, Op. 12 and Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major.

The Mendelssohn piece is an early work of the composer that was completed in 1823 but not published until 1879. It was his first published quartet and is known for its dramatic scope.

Ravel’s quartet was completed in 1903 when he was just 28. It premiered in Paris in 1904. Debussy was a great influence on Ravel during this period, and this work is considered to be Ravel’s first masterpiece.

Following the concert, there will be a reception with the musicians.

Beaches Museum Chapel has free parking along Pablo Avenue near 4th Street North off of Beach Boulevard. Guests are encouraged to wear masks. Feel free to bring a seat cushion for additional comfort.
