The Florida Police Chiefs Association has endorsed the candidacy of Rob Hardwick for Sheriff of St. Johns County.

Hardwick has been an active member of FPCA since his appointment to Police Chief of the St. Augustine Beach Police Department. His services to the association include serving on the FPCA Legislative Committee from 2013-2018.

Prior to his role as police chief, Hardwick served in the 7thJudicial Circuit State Attorney's Office, the St. Augustine Police Department, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Corrections.

When he was governor, Rick Scott appointed Hardwick to serve on the Criminal Justice and Standards Training Commission and Hardwick, who has been in law enforcement for 26 years, is still an active member of the commission.

“Chief Hardwick is a remarkable public servant and leader," said the FPCA Executive Director Amy Mercer. "Considering his early service at the State Attorney’s office to his current position as Police Chief for the City of St. Augustine Beach and his 26 years in law enforcement, I have no doubt he will make an excellent Sheriff for the citizens of St. Johns County.  He is a constant champion for improving public safety in our state."

In addition to his law enforcement career, Hardwick is a U.S. Army and Florida Army National Guard veteran and served in multiple deployments to the Middle East, including with Operation Desert Storm in 1990 and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and 2004 with the 53rd Infantry Brigade supporting the 5th Special Forces Group.

Hardwick has been married to his wife, Kendell, for 28 years, and they have two adult sons. For more information, visit the campaign's website at votehardwick.com.
