Free admission to Lightner for Museum Day Celebration

Posted

Discover, learn, listen and create from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Lightner Museum for Smithsonian’s “Year of Music” Museum Day Celebration.

Search for musically inspired artifacts and artworks while exploring the museum galleries with a scavenger hunt specifically designed for Museum Day's 2019 theme: Smithsonian Year of Music. Learn about and listen to vintage instruments during several gilded age music room demonstrations. After the scavenger hunt and music demonstrations, go to the Mezzanine level overlooking the former Alcazar Hotel’s historic pool area to create a music-themed craft.

Join the Lightner Museum and Smithsonian Magazine in celebrating “A Year of Music.” The Museum Day annual celebration of boundless curiosity provides free admission for two people with Smithsonian Museum Day tickets. Participants may download one ticket per email address, which provides free general admission for two Saturday, Sept. 21.

To download tickets, visit smithsonianmag.com. Registration through the Smithsonian Magazine website is required prior to entry to receive free general admission for two.
