Free public events planned in July

July is Parks and Recreation Month, and this year it coincides with a special milestone for the St. Johns County Parks & Recreation Department. Monday, July 11, marks 50 years since the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners passed an ordinance resulting in the creation of the department.

To celebrate five decades of service, St. Johns County has planned a month full of fun, family-friendly activities.

Here’s a look at the schedule:

  • July 9: Birthday Splash Bash, Calhoun Pool, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pre-registration required. See below.
  • July 13: Family Wedge Clinic, Treaty Park, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Pre-registration required. See below.
  • July 14: 50th Anniversary Beach Walk. Mussallem Beachfront Park. 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pre-registration required. See below.
  • July 16: Porch Talks, Alpine Groves, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • July 16: Beginner Disc Golf Clinic, SJC Fairgrounds, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pre-registration required. See below.
  • July 23: Catch and Release Fishing Tournament for ages 4-12, St. Johns County Ocean & Fishing Pier, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pre-registration required. See below.
  • July 30: Movie in the Park – “Space Jam 2,” Nocatee Community Park, 8:30 p.m.
