Gallery welcomes handcrafted furniture maker and artist Bo Gibbs

Bo Gibbs, furniture designer and maker, has joined the Professional Artists of St. Augustine (PAStA), which maintains a gallery on Charlotte Street in the Nation’s Oldest City.

For the first time, the gallery includes the heirloom quality, sustainably sourced hardwood furniture, stained glass and sculptures of this third-generation wood worker and Florida native.

“The process to build these objects takes time, passion and hard work,” said Gibbs. “They are built to last. It is my hope that my work will be passed down from generation to generation. No two pieces are alike; they are truly unique one-of-a-kind objects. I don’t have production lines or mass assembly line pieces; each item you see on this site was individually designed and made by me, from ideas and details inspired by nature.”

Gibbs is founder and owner of Gibbs Fine Designs studio, located near St. Augustine.

He has been crafting unique pieces for more than 30 years, having learned the craft of woodworking at this father’s knee. A woodshop class in high school confirmed his passion for creating objects that combined art with functionality by incorporating beautiful hardwoods with inlay, metals and stained-glass features.

His contemporary furniture designs include cabinetry, tables, lamps and lanterns. He adds stained glass features to several of his furniture pieces, such as his exquisite Whale Cabinet that not only includes stained glass depicting sea life, but carefully detailed carved embellishments to the piece. In the gallery, the Whale Cabinet invokes a “wow!” by every customer.

In addition to his furniture line, Gibbs creates stained-glass pieces featuring the creatures, both real and mythical that call the ocean home. His unique wall and free standing copperized coral wood sculptures are meant to be touched.

Customers who purchase any of Gibbs’ furniture can also have it delivered for free if they live within a 125-mile radius of the gallery.
