Gateway Council announces Women of Distinction honorees

Northeast Florida’s Girl Scout council will honor local female leaders at its upcoming 2018 Women of Distinction fundraiser.

The Women of Distinction award recognizes local women for their professional accomplishments, service to others and community impact.

This year, seven female leaders will be honored. The women nominated exemplify the Girl Scouts’ core values of honesty, fairness, caring, responsibility and service to others, as well as community, inclusivity, respect and sisterhood. The 2018 honorees include community volunteer and advocate Martha Baker; Tamara Baker of Baker Klein Engineering PL; Giselle Carson of MarksGray, P.A.; Camille Harrison of Florida Blue; Mary Kelli Palka of The Florida Times-Union; Nicole Thomas of Baptist Health; and consultant Penny Thompson.

The Women of Distinction 2018 awards will be held Thursday, April 19 at 5:30 p.m., at the Jacksonville Marriott, which is located at 4670 Salisbury Road. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
