Girl Scout Troop works to earn Silver Award at Cultural Center

The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach (CCPVB) received some color and repairs to its outdoor areas thanks to local Girl Scouts working to earn their Silver Award.

With the help of troop leader, Heather Harrington, the Landrum Middle School students in Girl Scout Troop 844 reached out to the Cultural Center and offered their services for a revitalization project. Their work included repairing a gate that had been damaged by hurricanes, painting a mural and doing some weeding, mulching and planting in the flower beds around the building and courtyard.

The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. The process of earning it encourages scouts to find a cause they are passionate about and to complete a community project related to that cause that will make a change for the better.

"We are so pleased that these young ladies choose the arts as a cause they would like to champion through their hard work and creativity,” said Sara M. Bass, exhibitions & communications manager at CCPVB. “And even more pleased that they picked The Cultural Center as the site of their project. After their hard work and a recent washing from event-sponsor KleanView Pressure Washing, our courtyard is welcoming and ready for spring.”

The courtyard at CCPVB features works of art by Enzo Torcoletti, and along with three interior exhibition spaces, is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Fridays at 50 Executive Way.
