On Friday, Dec. 13, Go Art will offer an evening of short, one-off Dungeons & Dragons games to introduce D&D to the curious while engaging with professional artist Ron Vellucci. The event will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. at Butterfield Garage Art Gallery, 137 King St., St. Augustine. The cost is $10.
Ron Vellucci is a sculptor of elegant, playful mixed media sculpture. When he won Best in Show at a Florida Artist’s Group annual exhibition, judge Stephen Knudsen, of Savannah College of Art and Design said, “Clearly the piece is a signifier of a stainless-steel portal. If the door opened its moving panels would be as complicated as gears in a clock. A bit of Zoomorphic looking slice of wood and found ammonite seemed to me to be signifiers of the natural world in relationship with the polished, the artificial, and the future.”
The Dec. 13 event will be family-friendly, encouraging families to enjoy the art gallery through an evening of games inspired by the art of Ron Vellucci. His works will invite people of all ages to share what they see in their imaginations after looking at the art and creating storylines inspired by it. At the same time, adults will appreciate the quality and depth of content present in his sculptures. Go Art will partner with Emerald Dragon Games of Fleming Island to bring the unique family night of art and games to Butterfield Garage Art Gallery.
