An annual golf tournament that will help fund prevention education programs to keep children safe will return Dec. 6.
The Dream Finders Homes MBF Champions for Child Safety Pro-Am Golf Tournament (Presented by Lennar) is accepting sponsorships now. MBF stands for Monique Burr Foundation for Children, which offers programs to protect children from bullying, digital dangers, abuse and exploitation.
Sponsorships include name recognition on the tournament's promotional communications, including the event banner, website and email communications; tickets to the 2021 Pairings Party; and more.
The pairings party will be held on Dec. 5, the day prior to the tournament. Both will be held at The Palencia Club: St. Augustine Golf Course & Country Club, 600 Palencia Club Drive, St. Augustine.

Those interested in playing in the tournament can fill out the form at mbfpreventioneducation.org/mbf-cfcs-form. Professional golfers Fred Funk, Jim Furyk and Mark McCumber will serve as honorary chairmen. Due to COVID restrictions, all participating pros have not been confirmed at this time.
Proceeds from the tournament help educate and empower children and teens with strategies to prevent, recognize and respond to all types of child abuse, bullying and victimization.
According to The Monique Burr Foundation for Children’s website, one in four children will be victimized in their lifetime; however, 95% of child sexual abuse is preventable through education.
The foundation addresses these issues through various programs, including MBF Child Safety Matters for elementary schools, MBF Teen Safety Matters for middle and high schools, MBF Athlete Safety Matters for youth athletes and MBF After-School Safety Matters for afterschool and youth-serving organizations. Its programs are comprehensive and evidence-based.
The foundation is a nonprofit organization started by Edward E. Burr in 1997 on the one-year anniversary of the death of Monique Burr, his late wife, to continue her legacy of child protection and child advocacy.
