Grinch theme prevails at Jingle Balls Tournament

TPC Sawgrass Valley Girls and their guests enjoyed the 15th annual Jingle Balls Tournament on Tuesday Dec. 14. Teeing off on Dye’s Valley Course to the 12 Days of Christmas Golf with a theme of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” the ladies played a four-person shamble with prizes for closest to the pin, closest to The Grinch, best dressed and winning scores.

Chairing the event were Sharon Gibbons, Kristin Jewell and Judy Adams with decorations by Maureen Sullivan.

The winning teams were Shane Estock, Kristin Jewell, Maureen Sullivan and Darlene Deo and Maria Ayala, Pong Mattiace, Dot Peck and Jane Rollinson. Closest to the pin was Jane Rollinson, closest to the Grinch was Sunni McCarty, and best dressed was Teresa Strecker as Cindy Lou Who.

After golf, the players enjoyed dinner in the club’s Sunset Room; there was a wedge salad, sweet potato fries, grilled balsamic Brussels sprouts, beef on focaccia bread and decorated cookies. The special cocktail of the evening was a created “Grinch Punch.”

The Valley Girls play at TPC Sawgrass on Tuesdays and have six special events per year. The next event is the couples “No Divorce Open” scheduled for February 2022, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
