Hines, the international real estate developer of Markland in St. Augustine, recently received two Excel Awards and a Silver Aurora at the Southeast Building Conference July 27-28 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Conference Center in Kissimmee.

The company won Excel Awards for Best Master Planned Community of the Year and Best Brochure for Markland. The Excel Industry Awards honor sales and marketing excellence in the building industry and were presented by SEBC, Florida Sales and Marketing Council and the Florida Home Builders Association.

Hines subsequently won a prestigious Silver Aurora for Best Community Site Plan for Markland at the Aurora Awards, which honor the best in design. This year’s competition drew 400 entries in 58 Categories.

“The Aurora Gala was a sold-out event and showcased all Aurora winners” said Aurora Awards Chairman Patti Guthrie. “The event was definitely the place to see a spectacular overview of emerging design and planning trends in residential and commercial development.”

A panel of four building industry leaders reviewed entries, and judges from among the most successful individuals within the homebuilding industry were selected to determine the winners. Judge Sarah Breen of CDC Designs said this year’s competition was exceptionally diverse coming from across the southeast.

“Creative ideas in design do not know boundaries,” she said. “We found the variety and level of excellence to be particularly heartening this year.”

Established in 1977, the Southeast Building Conference is a regional building industry trade show providing the latest in residential and commercial construction products and services.
