Homeless veterans honored with recreation room at Clara White Mission

Homeless veterans in reemployment programs at the Jacksonville Clara White Mission were recently honored with the first recreation room at the facility.

Donors rallied from the three surrounding counties to furnish the room with a foosball table, indoor basketball, magnetic dart board, board games, masks, furniture, military service wall hangings, supplies and services of a professional painter.

Located in the highly populated veteran city of Jacksonville, the Clara White Mission Veteran Program was designated by the We Can Be Heroes Foundation for delivery of food and goods. The male veterans dormitory and the female veterans Boulevard House provide a welcoming place for veterans in need to live while working toward independent living.

Clay County, Duval County and St. Johns County donors included Community Presbyterian Church of Atlantic Beach, American Legion Auxiliary 233 of Ponte Vedra, Women’s Tuesday Mah Jongg Group of Fleming Island and anonymous veterans and volunteers with the We Can Be Heroes Foundation.
